Welcome to our child-led daycare center! Our dedicated kaiako (teachers) create stimulating environments that ignite children’s curiosity and support their development, both indoors and outdoors. We are licensed to 10 under 2’s and 30 over 2’s. We ensure personalized attention with a 1:3 ratio for children under 2 and a 1:6 ratio for children over 2. This nurturing and engaging approach helps children explore, learn, and grow at their own pace.

What does the transition process into the centre look like? How many transitions will my child go through, and how will you handle these?

At our daycare center, we pride ourselves on a smooth and personalized transition process, understanding that each child is unique. The initial visit including the key transition teacher meets parents and the child, gathering detailed information about the child’s home routine, likes, and dislikes. Parents stay with the child for one hour, helping them become familiar with the new environment alongside the key teacher. The second visit and the third visit, parents are gradually reducing the involvement time and provide the chance to the key transition teacher with the child. The key teacher stays with the child throughout the visit, providing comfort and support to ease the transition.

Yes, we provide nutritious meals at our daycare center. Our meal program is designed to offer balanced and healthy options that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of all children. We prioritize fresh, wholesome ingredients and can accommodate specific dietary requirements or allergies upon request. Meals are an integral part of our daily routine, ensuring children have the energy and nutrition they need to thrive throughout the day.

What does the day look like usually?

A typical day at our daycare center is structured to balance learning, play, and rest, ensuring a holistic experience for every child. The general outline of a day sheet in our welcome package. Throughout the day, our kaiako provide individual attention, ensuring each child’s needs are met and interests are nurtured. Our low child-to-teacher ratios ensure a safe and supportive environment where children can thrive.

How will I hear about my child’s learning?

At our daycare center, we believe in maintaining open and continuous communication with parents about their child’s learning and development. At the end of each day, you will see a brief summary of your child’s activities, including what they learned, played, and any notable moment in the Storypark (Digital Communication App access to a secure online portal where teachers upload photos, videos, and notes about your child’s day, allowing you to stay connected in real-time.) A more detailed monthly learning story outlining your child’s progress, new skills they’ve developed, and areas of interest. You’re always welcome to schedule additional meetings or drop by to discuss your child’s progress with their teachers.

Since joining the daycare, Angelica has learned and grown so much. Every day after daycare, we could always see something new — new words, numbers, songs, or new things she wanted to try by herself. She also became more confident and social.

The teachers are very responsible and caring. When there is an issue, they first observe carefully, then take action, record the progress, and think of ways to help the child improve. They also communicate closely with parents and give us helpful advice on how to work together at home to support good behaviour and development.

The programme is rich and engaging, with thoughtful activities like Park Day, Music Day every week. Preschool Bookbag and Lunch Box Day, which really helped my daughter prepare for school routines and made the transition to primary school much easier.

The teachers are warm, caring, and very experienced. Communication has always been clear and supportive. The community is also lovely — the children are polite and kind, and the parents are friendly. We’ve never had any concerns about bullying; it’s a safe, respectful environment.

We are over from the Uk and we were looking for somewhere short term for our son. Jenny was so welcoming. Our son loved going and being with all the other children. Our daughter settled in right away with no tears, which says a lot about how warm and welcoming the environment is. Teachers are gentle, caring, and keep us updated daily on storypark with lots of photos. We love seeing the different play table setups every day, giving the babies new things to explore. There’s a separate area just for little ones under 2, making it a safe and calm space where they can move around freely all day. Highly recommended!

About the our centre

Wonder Bees ELC is a warm fun loving place, where they are treated with respect and dignity and empowered to make their own decision where possible.

We believe RIE philosopy is suitable for our infant and toddler. The basis of Magda Gerber’s RIE Philosophy is respect for, and trust in the baby to be an initiator, and an explorer, and a self learner. We promote primary caregiver for our under 2s, which will help the child and the families to settle quickly while finding a senses of belonging.

We have very smooth transition procedures, and also has varied learning programme for our children, for example daily basis S.T.E.M programmes suitable for different age groups, transition to school programme and specilised lessons for children. We will keep your children busy here and promise the happy learning happens.

Our Environment (Taiao)

Our environment is a place of beauty both inside and outside. Our learning environment is enriched with love and the atmosphere is calm and nurturing. At Wonder Bees, we foster the innate tendency of tamariki to seek connections with nature and other forms of life. This happens through taking learning out of the classroom, re-introducing the outdoors whilst enhancing all areas of their development through a natural discovery approach. We value the environment as a third teacher or an environmental steward. The tamariki enjoy the freedom of leading their own learning, exploring and discovering uninhibited in our environment. Children learn most effectively when they are connecting deeply with nature through play experiences. This is about creating interactions with people and the places where they play, learning to care for nature and the world in which we live. The concept of sustainability is introduced through experiential learning. Being outdoors in a natural setting enables children to develop a connection with the natural world that can lead to long-term environmental awareness and understanding as well as positive outcomes for their developing views of the world.
